It has been another great month of impact at CISCC. We have especially enjoyed attending a number of graduation ceremonies this month and celebrating the success and achievements of our students!
Congratulations to our amazing students! We are incredibly proud of all the hard work and accomplishments of all of our students, and especially this year’s graduates. One of our students, Jy’Mir was even recently featured on the Communities in Schools National Office website! View this story here, and celebrate Jy’Mir and CISCC.
Together, we continue to surround students with a community of support, empowering them to stay in school and achieve in life. Let’s keep pushing forward together, reaching new heights, and making a difference! And join with us in wishing all of these students great success in the next chapter of their journey.
We celebrated two incredible years of the Reading Buddy program at Pittsboro Elementary! Our amazing volunteers have fostered a love of reading and built lasting bonds with their reading buddies. Thank you, Susie, Suzanne, Annie, Gena, and Mary, for your dedication and kindness.

If you are interested in becoming a Reading Buddy, or volunteering in other ways, we would love to hear more about your interest! Learn more about volunteering on our website.
Through our partnership with Chatham Alliance, CIS students from Pittsboro Elementary School and George Moses Horton Middle School had the wonderful opportunity to participate in the Chatham Alliance Kids Love Community Program. This special project is a core part of our goal to create a safe place to learn and grow, while also giving back to our peers and community.
PES students made heartfelt thank-you cards for veterans, while GMHMS students prepared delicious cookie dough to be baked and shared alongside the cards during the July 4th celebrations. This project not only allowed our students to express their creativity and gratitude but also to contribute positively to our community.
We are so proud of our students for their dedication and hard work!
June 30th marks the end of our fiscal year. We are grateful to all our staff, volunteers, and donors who have made CISCC a success this year, as well as over the last 35 years. Your support helps us sustain and expand our programs, ensuring students receive the resources and guidance they need to stay in school and succeed in life.
As we close out our fiscal year (June 30th), and look ahead to the 2024-25 school year, we are raising additional funding to sustain and expand on our work. Would you consider making a financial gift towards our work? Every contribution makes a significant impact.
