From celebrating the end of the school year to cheering on our graduates, June has been a busy and exciting month for CIS Chatham County! While the school year wrapped up, our work with students and families continued through meaningful programs, events, and milestones. Read below to catch some of the highlights from this past month, along with a few important updates you won’t want to miss.

Communities In Schools of Chatham County is proud to celebrate the Class of 2025—including 5th, 8th, and 12th grade graduates! These students have shown incredible dedication, perseverance, and growth throughout the year. CISCC staff are honored to have been present in their lives and part of their educational journey. As students take their next steps, the CISCC team is cheering them on and looks forward to seeing all they will accomplish in the future. This school year, 72% of CISCC students grew, met, or exceeded their academic, coursework, and behavioral goals!

At CISCC, we are more than just an organization—we are a family. Our connections with students don’t end at graduation; they continue to grow as we cheer them on in their next chapters. We look forward to staying connected and watching with pride as these young leaders continue to thrive and make their own meaningful impact in the Chatham County community and beyond.

With gratitude and admiration, we say farewell to our incredible teammate, Janet Solano. Most recently, Janet served as our Student Support Specialist at Virgina Cross Elementary School.

Her positivity, joy, and unwavering presence have left a lasting impact on our team and the students she has supported. While it’s bittersweet to see her go, we are so excited for what’s ahead in her new journey.

We say thank you for everything Janet has poured into this work—her legacy will continue to shine through the lives she’s touched.

We’ll miss you, Janet! Best of luck in all that’s to come.

Our Board of Directors plays an essential role in everything we do at CIS Chatham County. Through thoughtful oversight, strategic vision, and countless volunteer hours, our board members help guide and strengthen our mission to be present for every student. As we close out our fiscal year on June 30th, we want to express our heartfelt thanks to several board members who are completing their terms. Your dedication—of time, talent, and resources—has made a lasting impact on our organization and the lives of the students and families we serve. We are deeply grateful for your service, and your legacy will continue to shape our work for years to come.
